CLASS DESCRIPTION

THURSDAY CLASSES

Half&Half * Linda Peck

The possibilities are endless! You can make the stars shown in the sample or choose from other variations that will be available in class. Once you've made your blocks there are numerous settings to choose from. You can also make this very scrappy or in a planned color combination as shown in the picture.

Raise the Roof * Kennette Blotzer

This is a great pattern from Miss Rosie. It will also be in her new book from Leisure Arts entitled “Miss Rosie's Spice of Life Quilts”. Log Cabin blocks and Star blocks are set in a Barn Raising design to create a great looking quilt.

Strata Various Quilt * Victoria Jones

This book offers many different quilts using the same basic technique. Pick your favorite design and we will spend the day creating strata and exploring opportunities for embellishment. I have personally completed the NeoStella and Gum Blossom projects and found them to be very satisfying. They each use strata but in different ways. You'll be amazed how easy and fast it is to create the strata and the many different ways to use it in your project. It will be fun to see how different each student's project looks while they are all using the same technique.

Cathedral Square * Linda Ballard

A two color quilt, this one looks more difficult than it actually is. Many secrets to the construction, all of which is template free. Options are given for the final setting. A stunning quilt that will give you great pleasure to piece. Intermediate to Advanced skill level.

Here a Kitty, There a Kitty * June Jaeger (two day class)

For those of you who have a cat with personality or know someone who has , this is the “cat” quilt. In this two day workshop you will not only piece cat related blocks from the past, but will get to appliqué, using fusible, the personality cats. From June's cat experience she has created “cat moment” with which we all can identify. This will be a fun workshop in which you will learn perfect piecing, fusible appliqué and more. June always discusses balance and color to move the eye throughout the quilt. You will be able to have a relaxed “kitty” experience in this two day workshop!

Lady of the Lake Feathered Star * Ronda Beyer

This is a design from Marsha McCloskey's “Feathered Star Quilt Blocks I”. Marsha was inspired by an old red, white and blue quilt. The feathers go all the way around the corner square to make a Lady of the Lake design. The center is a LeMoyne Star. Advanced Skill only. Size: 40” x 40”.

Pinwheel Right & Left * Peggy Gelbrich

This is a one day confident beginner class. Alternating two blocks and fun techniques in construction. Four fabrics work but I think it would be a great scrap quilt.

FRIDAY CLASSES

Country Stars * Linda Peck

This quilt is from a pattern (Point of Plaids) by Country Threads. Using freezer paper templates makes it fun and easy to piece.

Midnight Stars * Kennette Blotzer

This is a design from Gingham Girls. Ohio Star blocks tossed in the air and set in a topsy turvy setting makes this quilt a modern twist to an old favorite. Make yours using 30's prints, CivilWar, Brights or whater makes your stars shine.

Cinco de Mayo * Victoria Jones (two day class)

A wonderful paper pieced project that can be made with up to 36 blocks for a 72”x 72” (without additional borders) quilt. This project is a wildly fun project that can be made by someone new to paper-piecing or can also challenge someone who has done lots of paper piecing. There is a unique technique that can be used on some of the arcs. A project that will use lots of color and print fabrics come explore your wild side.

4 Patch for the 90s or 21st Century * Linda Ballard

Shown in all plaids, this quilt is also wonderful in scraps of all kinds……..i.e., prints, solids, textures, plaids, stripes, nondescripts, etc. Also bring in an assortment of colors to add a little 'zip' to your quilt. Many ideas for final layout will be shared during the class. A fun one to do and great to use up all your stash! Beginner plus to Advanced.

Storm at Sea * Peggy Gelbrich

The Storm at Sea pattern gives the illusion of the rolling ocean. There is much movement without any curved pieces. This pattern dates back to the 1930's and is easily made today with a new technique trimming the units to perfect size creating a perfect fit. It's a great two color quilt or make yours scrappy with a variety of values.

SATURDAY CLASSES

Hand Piecing * Linda Peck

If you like hand appliqué you'll love hand piecing. This is a nice alternative to sitting at your machine. Using Marti Michelle templates allows you to rotary cut your pieces and mark them at the same time. A great take-along project.

A Little Bird Told Me * Kennette Blotzer

This Little Birdie has many uses. Pin cushion, needle holder, scissor holder and thread holder. Make a useful item for any sewing room. Either come to class with pattern and supplies or preorder a kit with all supplies needed. A great introduction to working with wool.

Sew Many Stars * Linda Ballard

The block is known as 'Hope of Hartford' and with the name change also comes newer and quicker techniques. If you look closely at the block, it's hard to tell where you begin and end. Yes, there's a trick, and I'll be showing you how simple it is. Beginner plus.

Dot to Dot * June Jaeger

In this technique workshop, you will learn to machine piece circles. That's right, no appliqué. Using a black and white background or fabric of your choice, you will discover working with high and low contrasts to enhance this lap quilt. Some circles will float and others will bend creating an intriguing eye catcher. We will touch bases on keeping the eye moving throughout the quilt using color, value and intensity. Advanced beginner.

Award Winning Applique Technique * Ronda Beyer

Learn simple appliqué technique used by award winning quilters Sharon Schamber and me. Learn the simplicity of this technique for machine or hand appliqué finishing.

Dresden Sampler * Peggy Gelbrich

A traditional 1930's pattern. This Dresden Sampler quilt gives an option of several different Dresden plate blocks. Start with a little machine piecing, add a little hand sewing and you have it. Each student can decide how much appliqué they'd like to do depending on the block. Some use simple hand sewing while others require more needle turn appliqué. Make one block for a pillow, more for a table runner or a whole quilt! Confident beginner.

Saturday Evening Show & Tell

Please bring your quilts, wall hangings or other related projects to share with your fellow campers. We would also like to have a few to  hand around the classroom for all to enjoy. We will also do a Class Project Show and Tell at this time. This will give you more time at your sewing machines to complete your class projects!
